A young journalist, David Katz, who writes for a hip-hop magazine called Mic Check, starts following a music mogul around as part of a story and over time incorrectly starts to think he is part of that world, which leads to him writing an article for a gossip newspaper that starts a rivalry between the producer and his most famous rapper.
